Millie Bobby Brown posted a new carousel of tropical vacation photos on Instagram on May 17, and one beachside selfie was enough to send fans into detective mode. In the first image, the 22-year-old wore a yellow ruched two-piece swimsuit and a gold necklace spelling out “Ruth” in cursive.
The post quickly drew comments suggesting the jewelry might be a nod to her baby girl. One follower wrote, “Her necklace says Ruth! Baby name??!” Another said, “Your daughter’s name is Ruth!!!” The reaction landed because Brown and Jake Bongiovi announced their baby's adoption nine months before the post, and they have kept details about their daughter tightly private.
That privacy has only sharpened public curiosity. Fans have spent months looking for clues in appearances and social media posts, including when Brown and Bongiovi were spotted in the Hamptons last August with a phone case showing the initials RWB. The necklace could point to the child, or it could be a tribute to Brown’s late grandmother Ruth, who died in 2020.
Brown has already said she wants to keep her daughter out of the spotlight until the child can decide for herself. In November, she told British Vogue, “For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself.” She added, “It’s not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly,” and said, “Right now, as she’s so little,” before finishing, “As her parents, it’s our job to protect her from that.”
That leaves the mystery intact for now, even as the clues keep piling up. The necklace may be the closest thing fans have seen yet to a hint, but Brown has made clear she is not ready to confirm anything about her daughter publicly — and, by design, she does not have to be.
