His return mattered because Oklahoma City entered the series as the defending champions, and Williams had become one of the biggest uncertainty points in the playoffs after struggling with hamstring injuries for much of the season. He played in a career-low 33 regular-season games this year, a reminder of how often the Thunder had to move without one of its key pieces.
