He said the Steelers need to keep young quarterbacks ready in the queue in case the Rodgers plan fails, and he drew a hard line at midseason if Pittsburgh is not in playoff position. It is a blunt warning from one of the franchise's best-known voices: start with Rodgers, but be ready to move on fast if the results do not match the name.
The backdrop is what makes the conversation heavier than a simple endorsement. Rodgers is delaying his commitment to the Steelers for the second straight year, leaving the franchise to sort out another quarterback limbo after winning the AFC North in 2025.
