Australia’s first ever NBA House opens in Melbourne on May 14, turning The Timber Yard into a four-day fan event built around playoff basketball, live entertainment and a slate of player appearances, including demarcus cousins.
The program will run through the weekend with live NBA playoff viewings, games of NBA 2K26, a three-on-three Celebrity game, food and drink offerings and family-friendly activities. Fans will also get a chance to show off their basketball skills, while DJ Nino Brown is set for day one, Baker Boy for day two and Tye Turner for day four.
The event lands in one of Melbourne’s biggest event spaces and is being pitched as more than a watch party. It is the league’s first NBA House in Australia, a pop-up built to give local fans a closer look at the sport through entertainment, merchandise and on-court action.
That mix of basketball and spectacle is what gives the event its pull. The Sacramento Kings Dancers and dunk team are slated to perform across the four days, Kings mascot Slamson will appear, and Jaren Jackson Jr. and Cousins are both listed among the personalities expected to attend.
Tickets start at $53.28 for standard entry, with discounts available for juniors and VIP packages on offer for fans looking for a more premium experience. With playoff games on screen and live acts on stage, the event is designed to keep people moving from one part of the venue to the next rather than treating it like a simple viewing room.
For Melbourne, the debut gives the NBA a physical showcase in a market where the league has long had a following but not this kind of dedicated takeover. The first day sets the tone, but the real test will be whether the four-day format can hold attention as a full-scale basketball festival rather than a one-night draw.
