says once wanted to turn and ’s WrestleMania 37 title match into a three-way triple threat that would have put him in the middle of one of WWE’s biggest stages of 2021.

He said McMahon called him, Banks, Belair, producers and writers into the office and laid out the pitch himself. “This is what I’m thinking, Reggie, you buy her a dog, she loves you, and you’re playing every week in the middle, but the thing is you have an endgame. You will come out and announce that this is no longer a singles. This is a triple threat,” Reginald recalled McMahon saying. He said Banks and Belair did not react well.

The idea mattered because Banks and Belair had already made history at WrestleMania 37 by becoming the first Black women to headline WrestleMania in 2021. Reginald’s account adds a rare glimpse into how close WWE came to altering that match, and how far the company was willing to push a storyline that already had him tangled with Banks, Belair and around that time.

Reginald said the pitch came after he had already wrestled Banks in a singles match earlier in 2021. He said McMahon told him, “Sasha and Reginald, you guys have great chemistry.” Reginald said he pushed back internally, asking, “What do you mean? What is this chemistry?” and later, “But what makes us have this chemistry?” McMahon’s answer, he said, was blunt: “I don’t know, damn it. It’s chemistry.”

He said the room’s reaction made the moment awkward. “When he said that, Sasha had a look on her face, and Bianca had the same look on her face,” Reginald recalled. “And I’m just like, ‘I don’t know what the hell is happening right now. I’m not going to look at anyone, I’m not going to say anything.’” He said the triple threat never moved forward.

Reginald also said that on the day of WrestleMania 37 he tested positive for COVID after driving to Tampa to be tested, then having to turn around and go home. He said he had been supposed to accompany and for their WWE Women’s Tag Team title defense against and Tamina, but the positive test ended those plans before the show.

“I was supposed to debut in front of a live crowd that WrestleMania with Nia & Shayna, but I got COVID the day of,” he said. “I drove to Tampa, tested, got horrible news. Legit been clean, negative the entire pandemic. First time I get to go, my first WrestleMania — COVID. I have to drive back home.” He said that probably meant the proposed Reginald-Banks-Belair match would have fallen apart anyway.

Reginald, who said he was known in WWE from 2020 to 2024 as Reggie, Reginald and Scrypts, said he was in the middle of getting a deal done with A when he discussed the story. His account closes a small but striking what-if from one of WWE’s most important nights: the company came close to inserting him into a historic WrestleMania main event, but the idea never got past the room and the performer himself was out of action before the bell.
