Claude AI faced a possible outage on Thursday, with more than 2,000 users reporting problems by 5:27 p.m. PT.
The reports pointed mainly to Claude Code, while Claude’s status checker showed elevated error rates on Opus 4.7. The checker said, “We are continuing to investigate this issue.”
Downdetector.com tracked the disruption by collecting status reports from multiple sources, giving a live snapshot of how the problem was spreading. For users trying to work through Claude Code, the outage was disruptive in the middle of the day rather than a short-lived glitch that vanished before most people noticed.
The timing matters because the issue appeared to be active as Thursday evening approached, with the platform still under pressure and the cause still unresolved. A related page on MogazMasr also flagged elevated error rates on Opus 4.6 and 4.7, underscoring that the latest trouble was not isolated to a single complaint stream.
Claude’s own status message leaves the key question unchanged: how quickly the company can bring error rates back down for the parts of the service people rely on most.
