The SANFLW State Team has suffered a 92-point defeat to the WAFLW in the KIA State Game at Sullivan Logistics Oval in Perth, after the Croweaters went to half-time 47 points behind. It was a sharp reversal for a side that had won the previous two meetings in the contest.

WAFLW controlled the match by creating space across the ground and using it to their advantage, with Poppy Stockwell kicking four goals, Lucy Greenwood three and Krstel Petrevski two as the Sandgropers pulled away. SANFLW had few answers once the game opened up, and the first quarter set the tone as it was outbodied and outscored by 23 points.

Alice Tentye was one of the few to emerge with credit for the Croweaters, collecting 22 disposals, four tackles and two marks before being named best on ground for her side. Zoe Venning added six tackles, Tiffany King had six rebound 50s and debutant Isla Wiencke finished with 15 disposals and six tackles in her first appearance for SANFLW.

Mel Anderson kicked the SANFLW's only goal, coming in the final term after taking a mark directly in front of goal. It was a rare reward in a match that had long since tilted the other way, with WAFLW's pressure and movement giving them the cleaner looks and the more reliable finish around goal.

The result was the first time the Croweaters had lost to the Sandgropers in this state game, and the margin reflected how completely the home side took control. For SANFLW, the numbers told the story: a slow start, a widening gap by the main break and no way back once WAFLW had the space it wanted.
