voluntarily recalled a limited number of production runs of its Organic Super Premium Ice Cream on Wednesday after discovering the possible presence of foreign metal material. The recall, published in an FDA report on Friday, covers select pint and quart containers of vanilla bean, strawberry, cookie dough, Dutch chocolate and mint chip sold in 17 states.

The affected products were distributed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin, with best by dates ranging from Dec. 23, 2026, through Dec. 30, 2026. They began appearing on store shelves on May 4, but not all Straus Family Creamery Ice Cream products are affected.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported, and the company said it is working with retailers to remove the potentially affected products from shelves. Straus Family Creamery, based in Northern California, urged consumers not to eat the recalled ice cream and to throw it away rather than return it to stores.

Shoppers seeking a replacement voucher can use the company’s recall website. Consumers with questions can email [email protected] or call 1-707-776-2887 Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT.

The recall lands as food safety worries can move fast through store coolers, where one contaminated run can sit beside untouched product under the same label. Straus said the issue is limited to specific production runs, and that distinction matters: the company’s broader line remains on shelves, but the recalled pints and quarts do not belong there.
