Hamilton Academical came from behind to beat Clyde 2-1 in the Scottish League 1 play-off final second leg after a fast, scrappy contest in which both sides created chances from corners and shots from distance. Clyde led 1-0 after an own goal by Kai Smutek, but Tony Gallacher and Kyle MacDonald turned the match for Hamilton.

The equaliser arrived when Gallacher headed in from the centre of the box to the top left corner after a corner from Ewan Simpson. MacDonald then put Hamilton ahead with a header from very close range to the centre of the goal, set up by Oli Shaw from another corner. The 2-1 scoreline gave Hamilton the upper hand in a tie that had already turned on a moment of misfortune for Clyde.

Smutek's own goal had given Clyde the early lead during the same second leg, a setback that forced Hamilton to chase the game rather than manage it. Clyde still had openings of their own. Marley Redfern sent a header from the centre of the box wide to the right after a corner, Craig Howie also headed off target from the centre of the box, and both Kyle Connell and Barry Cuddihy saw efforts from outside the area blocked.

The match was the second leg of the Scottish League 1 play-off final, and the live updates reflected how much hinged on set pieces, loose balls and brief defensive lapses. Hamilton took their chances when they came. Clyde could not make the same count despite a string of attempts that kept the pressure on until the final stages.

For Hamilton, the comeback was decided in the space between one own goal and two headers. For Clyde, the margins were harsh: one error, several missed chances and a tie that slipped away once Gallacher and MacDonald met the corners cleanly.
