Marcos Senesi has confirmed he will leave Bournemouth when his contract expires in the summer, bringing an end to a four-year spell at Vitality Stadium. The 29-year-old, who joined from Feyenoord in 2022, said he was proud of what he and the club had achieved and would leave with fond memories.
Senesi has been free to speak to European clubs about a free transfer since 1 January, and he is now weighing up his next move after Bournemouth offered him a new contract. He has also been exploring options to stay in England's top flight, while Chelsea sources have played down any suggestion of a move for him this summer despite links with Tottenham, Barcelona and Juventus.
“I'm proud of everything we achieved over the last four years,” Senesi said. “I will look back at my time here with fond memories.” He added: “For now, there are still two big games left of the season and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”
The timing matters because Bournemouth are sixth in the Premier League and on course for European qualification, with sixth place set to be the club's highest finish in the competition. Andoni Iraola is also due to leave at the end of the season, leaving Bournemouth to manage two major departures as they chase a record points tally that is two more points away.
Senesi's exit caps a season in which he made only his second and third appearances for Argentina, underlining how much of his focus has remained on club football. He now leaves Bournemouth with the club in their strongest league position and with the final two matches still to shape the end of their season.
