GWS has named winger Ryan Angwin and debutant Harry Oliver for Sunday’s Round 10 clash with Waalitj Marawar, while Jack Buckley was ruled out injured and Sam Taylor remained at least a week away from his first game of the season.
The Giants’ omission of Buckley was said to stretch the GWS defence, adding more pressure to a back line already waiting on Taylor’s return from a hamstring injury. Taylor, who has not yet played this season, is still at least a week away from being available.
The team changes came as the Round 10 sides were announced across the AFL, with Essendon, St Kilda, Richmond, Fremantle and West Coast also featuring in the wider round of updates. For GWS, the reshuffle brings a debut chance for Oliver and another look at Angwin as the Giants try to cover two key absences at once.
What matters now is how well GWS can absorb the loss of Buckley without Taylor, because the defensive strain could shape more than one result in the next stretch of the season.
