It shouldn’t have happened,” he said, adding that many people would have travelled early for the 9 am show. Balaji said he had worked on the project for more than two years and was still hopeful the situation would be resolved. “I’ve manifested that Karuppu will release on May 14 and that it’ll turn out to be a blockbuster,” he said in the video.

The uncertainty matters because the film’s launch had already turned into a test of logistics as well as expectation. Balaji said many people were working to sort out the problems and that Suriya had given a great deal to the project. “Sorry for all the stress, but the film will be worth it all,” he said, before repeating that the movie would release that evening and ending on a note of faith that God was with them.

Karuppu stars Suriya and , with Indrans, Natty, Swasika, Sshivadha, Anagha Maya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy and Deepa in the cast. It is produced under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner by and , with Sai Abhyankkar composing the music, GK Vishnu handling cinematography and R Kalaivanan on editing.
