Marcos Senesi will leave Bournemouth when his contract expires in the summer, bringing an end to a four-year stay that began with his move from Feyenoord in 2022. The 29-year-old defender will become a free agent after the season, with Bournemouth having already offered him a new contract.
Senesi said he was proud of what he and the club had achieved over the last four years and said he would look back on his time on the south coast with fond memories. He added that there are still two big games left and that he is looking forward to seeing what the squad can achieve together before the campaign ends.
Bournemouth are sixth in the Premier League and remain on course for European qualification, with the Europa League or Conference League the most likely outcomes. They still have hopes of reaching the Champions League, and need two more points to secure a record points tally that would cap their season in style.
Senesi has been free to speak to European clubs about a pre-contract deal since 1 January and has also been exploring options to stay in England's top flight. He has spoken to multiple clubs, though it remains unclear where he will go next.
Several sides have been linked with him, including Tottenham, Barcelona and Juventus, while sources at Chelsea have played down any suggestion they will move for him this summer. The uncertainty over his next step comes during a season in which he made only his second and third appearances for Argentina, underlining how much his club future now sits at the centre of the story.
For Bournemouth, the timing leaves little room for distraction. The club are still fighting for a landmark finish, and Senesi’s departure will be felt even as the final whistle of the season approaches.
