The Detroit Lions' 2026 international game in Germany has already leaked, and the listed date gives the club one of the earliest clear markers on a schedule that is still being rolled out. The opponent for that trip is still undetermined, but Sunday, Nov. 15 is listed as Lions vs. Patriots in Germany at 9:30 a.m. ET on FOX.
That makes the Germany stop the centerpiece of a calendar that already points to a brutal opening stretch. Detroit is listed at the Bills on Thursday, Sept. 17, on Thursday Night Football at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video, and the schedule also includes a Thanksgiving meeting with the Bears on Thursday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
By the league’s rotating opponent formula, the Lions will play the NFC North twice, the NFC South and the AFC East in 2026. Because Detroit finished fourth in its division in 2025, it is also slated to draw three last-place teams from last season, a setup that has fueled the view that the club could have the easiest schedule in the NFL.
The early list of home games includes the Bears, Packers, Vikings, Patriots, Saints, Giants, Jets, Buccaneers and Titans. Detroit’s road slate includes the Bears, Packers, Vikings, Cardinals, Falcons, Bills, Panthers and Dolphins, a mix that leaves little room for a soft landing once the season starts.
The leaks and rumors have filled in a lot of the blanks before the league has. A rumor places the Lions at the Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 4, on Sunday Night Football at 8:25 p.m. ET, another puts them at the Vikings on Sunday, Dec. 20, on Sunday Night Football, and a separate one has Detroit hosting the Giants on Monday, Dec. 28, on Monday Night Football.
Two more late-season spots are also circulating: a rumor places the Lions at Bears in Week 17, while Week 18 is listed as Lions vs. Packers, with the home team not clear. The full international slate is expected to be revealed on Wednesday, May 13, at 9 a.m. ET on NFL Network's Good Morning Football, and the rest of the 2026 NFL schedule should follow gradually after that.
Detroit enters that rollout with real momentum behind it. FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Lions as favorites to win the NFC North, make the playoffs and contend for a Super Bowl, even before the complete television map is official.
