Mitchell Slaggert is headed to Virgin River. He has been cast in a major recurring role on the show’s upcoming eighth season as Eddie, a charismatic EMT who never imagined himself in a small town.
The part gives Slaggert a new foothold in one of streaming’s most durable dramas just as Season 8 has begun production in Vancouver. Eddie is described as a laidback charmer who will explore everything Virgin River has to offer, and he is expected to cross paths with Doc, Mel, Fire Chief Kaia and volunteer firefighter Brady.
That matters because Virgin River has a pattern: the show’s usual timeline has been for a season to arrive about a year after filming begins, and Season 7 followed that schedule exactly, landing one calendar year after production started. If that holds again, Eddie’s arrival will not be a quick cameo but part of the next stretch of the series’ life.
Slaggert arrives with a resume built for this kind of role. He was Kimberly’s love interest and a series regular in Season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls, played the title character opposite Sasha Pieterse in A Carpenter Christmas Romance, and had an arc in Season 1 of Landman. His feature credits also include Moss and Wish Upon, both from 2017.
The open question is not whether Eddie will fit into Virgin River’s world. It is how much trouble he will stir while he is there. The character may get pulled into romantic entanglements, and the show has a habit of turning even the calmest newcomer into a catalyst for everyone else’s problems. For now, Slaggert’s casting gives Season 8 a new face with room to matter long after the first episode airs.
