Rockstar Games has set Grand Theft Auto 6 for Thursday, November 19, 2026, ending weeks of speculation around the blockbuster title’s timing. But gta 6 pre orders are still not open, leaving fans with a release date and little else to lock in.
The date is the latest move in a long delay cycle. Grand Theft Auto 6 was first pushed out of an original Fall 2025 window, then moved again from a revised May 26, 2026 target before Rockstar settled on November 19 and said the extra time was for additional polish.
That matters because the game is still the most closely watched launch in the industry and because Take-Two has now reaffirmed the November 19 target in its fiscal guidance. The company’s next earnings call is set for May 21, a date that could bring fresh questions about how firm that schedule really is and whether the publisher will offer more detail on pre-orders, marketing or platform plans.
For now, the official picture remains narrow. GTA 6 is due only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar has not officially announced a PC version. The company has confirmed the game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, with Vice City at the center of the map, and its own marketing copy describes Leonida as home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond.
Rockstar has also confirmed that the game will feature dual protagonists, Lucia and Jason, continuing a formula that helped define some of the studio’s biggest hits. And while the company has acknowledged that an online component will continue with GTA 6, it has not formally detailed a standalone GTA 6 Online feature set.
The delay pattern leaves Rockstar with a familiar trade-off: more time to refine a game that has been under intense scrutiny, but less room to keep buyers and investors in the dark. With no pre-order details officially opened as of mid-May, the next real milestone is not the launch date itself but the May 21 earnings call, where Take-Two is likely to face the question that still matters most to players: what exactly can they buy, and when?
