The BCCI has named Priyansh Arya in India A’s 15-member squad for the upcoming tri-series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, a call that places another young batter who impressed in the IPL on the national pathway. India A will begin the tournament on June 9, with the tri-nation series running through June 21 and the white-ball matches set for Dambulla.
Tilak Varma will captain the side and Riyan Parag has been appointed vice-captain, with the squad also featuring Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh, Kumar Kushagra, Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj and Arshad Khan. The selection reflects the BCCI’s push to test players who have earned recognition through IPL performances in a setting that can feed into the next cycle of India’s white-ball plans.
The India A schedule is not limited to the short-format matches. Multi-day fixtures against Sri Lanka A are slated for Galle, though the BCCI said the squad for those red-ball games will be announced later. That means the current group covers only the white-ball leg for now, leaving another selection decision still to come.
The timing matters because the series arrives after a strong IPL season for several younger players and as India looks beyond the 2027 ODI World Cup, when the side is expected to be rebuilt again. For Arya, the selection offers another chance to turn domestic promise into a stronger claim on the senior setup, while for India A it is another step in a development program that now has immediate results as well as longer-term consequences.
