Armed officers were at the scene of an ongoing police incident in Wrexham city centre on Tuesday morning, as said it was dealing with a live operation near Wrexham hospital. The force said there was a heavy police presence in the area, with authorised firearms officers in attendance as a precautionary measure.

At 10:30am, a police drone was visible around the B&Q roundabout and the Wrexham hospital site, while armed police and undercover police vehicles were seen using blue lights in the area. Several police vehicles were parked on Watery Road, and traffic was being stopped from accessing the surrounding streets.

By 11am, the helicopter had left the area and the drone had returned to the ground, but police had still released no further official detail on the nature of the incident. North Wales Police Wrexham Town said: “We are currently dealing with an ongoing police incident in Wrexham city centre.” It added: “As a result, there is a heavy police presence in the area, including authorised firearms officers as a precautionary measure.”

The operation has put one of the busiest parts of the town under visible restriction, with officers controlling movement around the hospital site and nearby roads. That level of response suggests police are treating the situation with caution, but the force had not by 11am explained what prompted the deployment or how long it might continue. Police said: “We will share further information in due course.”

For now, the clearest fact is that the incident is still active and the public is being kept away from part of the city centre while officers remain in place. The lack of detail leaves commuters, hospital visitors and nearby businesses waiting for an update that has not yet come.
