The winning numbers on May 12 were 17, 32, 35, 40 and 47, and the Mega Ball was 17. No one won the jackpot, and no player hit any of the Match 5 prizes either, extending a 2026 run that has already produced two jackpot winners before this drawing.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and tickets cost $5 each. Players choose six numbers from two pools, five from 1 to 70 and one from 1 to 24, or let a store terminal fill them in with Easy Pick or Quick Pick. Tickets also now include a built-in multiplier that can raise non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four, five or 10 times.
There had already been two Mega Millions jackpot winners in 2026 before Tuesday’s draw, including an Ohio player who won a $60 million jackpot on St. Patrick’s Day. That earlier hit showed how quickly the game can swing from a long wait to a life-changing payout, but Tuesday’s numbers left the prize to keep growing. Players can take the money as a lump sum or as annual payments that rise by 5% each year, which means the next winner will still be choosing not just numbers but how the payout lands.
